I’m Michael, born in Austria’s so-called “golden west”—but for me, it was a gilded trap. I grew up with physical, emotional, and sexual abuse.
My father, MY HERO, taught me that being a “real man” meant hiding vulnerability and burying tears. For years, I thought I was succeeding—until all my suppressed emotions came roaring back. I felt like a failure, unable to be the father, partner, or man I wanted to be.
Now, I see how many men remain stuck in destructive narratives, even as the world blames masculinity for so much of our suffering. Enough is enough. It’s time to shatter these old stories, embrace authentic strength, and rewrite history.
